Following a substantial spillage The A19 northbound near Billingham has been closed to allow Durham Constabulary, County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and National Highways personnel to work at scene.
Diversion Route
Road users heading northbound are advised to follow the ‘Solid Triangle’ diversion symbol on road signs:
- Exit the A19 northbound at the junction with the A139 and at the end of the sliproad take the 3rd exit, towards Billingham
- At the next roundabout take the first exit onto the A1027 northbound
- Continue to the next roundabout and take the 1st exit towards Norton/Hartlepool
- At the next roundabout/Norton Interchange take 3rd exit to re-join the A19 northbound
If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
