Officers are appealing for the public’s assistance to locate a missing teenager.
Layla Anderson, who is 15, was last seen at 8.15am on Friday in Houghton-le-Spring town centre, although she has been in phone contact since then.
When last seen she was wearing a black school uniform blazer and a purple skirt.
Extensive enquiries have been carried out by officers to locate Layla but have so far proved unsuccessful.
Officers and her family are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.
It is believed that Layla may still be in the Houghton-le-Spring area.
Layla is described as a white female, about 5ft 7in tall, with long brown hair.
She has a small scar on her forehead.
Layla, or anyone who knows her whereabouts, is asked to contact police by sending Northumbria Police a direct message on social media, using the live chat function on the Force website, or by calling 101 quoting log NP-20240913-1298.
