Overview:
Kearney FM is looking for a dynamic, creative, and engaging Radio DJ/Personality to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music, a deep understanding of current trends, and a strong ability to connect with our audience, both on-air and through digital platforms. This role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, allowing you to broadcast from our Kearney studio or your home office, as well as opportunities to create and host your own show.
Key Responsibilities:
- Show Creation & Hosting:
- Develop, produce, and host your own daily radio show, focused on entertaining and engaging our audience.
- Curate playlists that resonate with our listeners, blending popular hits, local favorites, and hidden gems.
- Incorporate listener interactions, interviews, and special segments to keep the show lively and relevant.
- Deliver content that reflects the interests and culture of the Kearney community.
- Audience Engagement:
- Build a strong connection with listeners through on-air personality, social media, and live events.
- Actively engage with listeners via phone calls, social media, and Kearney FM’s online platforms.
- Respond to listener requests and feedback in a professional and personable manner.
- Content Creation & Digital Presence:
- Create and maintain a vibrant digital presence through blogs, podcasts, and social media updates.
- Collaborate with the digital team to produce online content that complements your show, including videos, playlists, and behind-the-scenes content.
- Promote your show and Kearney FM through social media campaigns, live streaming, and other digital initiatives.
- Collaboration & Station Support:
- Work closely with the Program Director to align your show’s content with Kearney FM’s overall programming strategy.
- Participate in station promotions, community events, and remotes as a representative of Kearney FM.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to create sponsored content, promotions, and events that enhance the station’s revenue opportunities.
- Music & Trend Awareness:
- Stay updated on the latest music trends, industry news, and cultural events to keep your show fresh and relevant.
- Participate in music meetings, sharing insights and suggestions for the station’s overall playlist.
Qualifications:
- Experience:

- Excellent verbal communication skills with a confident, charismatic on-air presence.
- Strong knowledge of music across various genres and the ability to curate diverse playlists.
- Proficient in using radio broadcasting software, audio editing tools, and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative thinking with the ability to develop unique content and show ideas.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Education:
- A degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Journalism, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid Working: This position offers flexibility in working location, allowing you to broadcast from our Kearney studio or your home office. Some in-office presence may be required for meetings, events, or other station-related activities.
- Office Working: If preferred, you can work full-time from our Kearney FM studio, collaborating directly with the station team.
